📰 NEWSLETTER ISSUE #007

Good morning, neighbour!

The nights may be cooling off, but the calendar is still sizzling. Between neon-lit bowling plans, farm-fresh pumpkin fields, and a major transit glow-up, Niagara’s got no shortage of talkers this week. We even slipped in a dumpling detour that’s as far from Clifton Hill as you can get.

Here’s what’s inside this issue:

  • 🎳 The scoop on Kingpin bowling coming to St. Catharines

  • 🎃 Fall fun at Pumpkinville and other weekend picks

  • 🥟 A hidden Himalayan gem serving momos in Niagara Falls

🗞 THE LOCAL SCOOP

Bowling Alleys, Pumpkin Fests & a Transit Glow-up

🎳 Pins & Play Coming to the Pen

The Pen Centre is trading Sears racks for neon lanes and nacho platters. By December, Kingpin St. Catharines will bring 24 high-tech bowling lanes (including 8 VIP for private parties), a GameworX arcade, a full bar, and restaurant-style seating.

Think music, flashing lights, TVs over the pins, and service right to your lane. Hiring 40–50 locals, it’s set to make the mall Niagara’s new late-night hangout.

🎃 Pumpkinville Pops Back Up

Howells Adventure Farm in Pelham has officially gone full fall. Pumpkinville offers 35+ attractions, from pig races and apple cannons to giant slides, corn mazes, and a singing chicken show (yes, really).

Families can bounce on haystack pillows by day, then stick around for pumpkin light shows at night. Open daily through October, it’s one of Niagara’s biggest fall playgrounds.

🚌 Niagara Transit’s $128M Upgrade

Transit news rarely gets a headline, but this one’s a big deal. Niagara is rolling out 154 new buses (124 conventional, 30 paratransit) plus refurbishing old vehicles, expanding specialized service, and adding real-time tracking and better safety tech.

The upgrades will touch every corner of the region, with students, commuters, and seniors all set to see smoother service. It’s not flashy, but it’s a solid win for daily riders.

🍽 THIS ONE’S WORTH THE CALORIES

Honey Sriracha Crispy Shrimp

Across from the Shaw Festival Theatre sits Zees Wine Bar & Grill, a modern casual spot known for creative twists on classics. The Honey Sriracha Crispy Shrimp is a signature appetizer served at lunch and dinner.

Each shrimp is fried to a golden crunch, tossed in a sweet and spicy honey aioli, and finished with fresh micro herbs. The mix of sweet heat and crunch makes it one indulgence worth every bite.

Order a glass of Niagara wine and call it balance.

🌿 HIDDEN GEM

Momo2Go, Niagara Falls

Skip the Clifton Hill chains and slip into Momo2Go. This cozy Niagara Falls spot serves Tibetan and Nepalese momos (dumplings) with a Canadian twist. The menu ranges from classic steamed veggie to pan fried Delhi masala, butter chicken, and even tandoori momos, all packed with spice and flavour.

Launched as the sister of Himalayan Kitchen, Momo2Go has quietly built a loyal following thanks to its fresh ingredients, warm service, and playful motto: It’s Momolicious!

Affordable, satisfying, and far from touristy, it is a taste of the Himalayas hiding in plain sight.

🌞 LITTLE JOYS

Pumpkin Spice and Everything Nice

The first real hint of fall in Niagara isn’t the weather, it’s the pumpkins. Overnight, every farm stand seems to sprout gourds of all shapes and sizes, and suddenly your neighbour’s SUV is full of hay bales and “just one more” jack-o-lantern.

Spots like Warner Ranch in Niagara Falls make it easy to get swept up in the ritual with hayrides, corn mazes, and pony rides, all without an admission fee.

It is one of those simple Niagara joys that smells like cider, looks like Instagram, and makes even the pumpkin-spice skeptics smile

That’s it for this week.

From dumpling detours to pumpkin patches and late-night bowling dreams, Niagara is proving there is plenty to talk about before the leaves even finish turning.
